This stovetop kettle is compatible with most ranges, please refer to the manufactures guide for reference. The lid of the kettle is vented to allow steam to escape, but, be cautious it will not whistle when the water is boiling. The lid also includes a button-style crimp to hold it in place during use. It is not recommended by the manufacturer to put the kettle in the dishwasher, instead, it should be washed by hand with a nonabrasive cloth. The wood components should be oiled occasionally to preserve their finish. This kettle works great and looks lovely when not in use.
